About This Product
Winter’s biggest snowfalls are no match for the self-propelled Power Max 824 OE Snow Blower. With a 252cc Toro Premium 4-cycle OHV engine leading the charge, you’ll muscle through the toughest snow and ice Mother Nature has to offer. And you’ll be back inside for dinner before your neighbors, too, thanks to a 24 in. wide clearing width and 20 in. intake height that make quick work of even the deepest snow. The innovative Quick Stick control allows you to change the steel chute direction and chute deflector with a single, smooth motion. Convenient one-hand operation levers allow single-handed use, freeing the other hand to change speeds or the chute control without stopping. The exclusive Anti-Clogging System monitors snow intake to reduce clogging and maximize clearing efficiency. The blower is also equipped with hardened gears in your auger gearbox – there are no shear pins to replace. Instead, if the auger hits hard material, the engine will purposely stall to prevent damage. Ideal for concrete, asphalt and gravel surfaces. And with Toro’s 3-year limited warranty, you can rest easy knowing that you’re prepared for anything winter has in store. Count on it.

I live in northern Michigan where 10 to 18 inches can fall on any given wintery day. I picked this up thinking with the new engineering would work perfect. Well 11 inches of wet snow and it did the job like it was butter. Since today was first day of using it I will update later on reliability. So far all is well.

The machine was easy to setup right out of the box. A few pieces to finish hooking together as shown in the pictures/manual and it started right up using the elertric start. After that it started easily using the pull start. No missing pieces or loose hardware in the box.

Put to the test this week. Heavy wet snow. Handled it easily. Glad I bought this Toro
Jacob –
Easy to use, easy to start. Does a fantastic job.

My first use was a real good test for the Toro Power Max 2 stage snow blower. Our cabin is on the west shore of Lake Tahoe and the snow there is wet and heavy often called “Sierra Cement”. Delivery was delayed so there was over 2 feet with a frozen crust in the mix. I had to pick the berm from the plow at the street but was able to get about 8 inches above ground level and the snow blower was able to work through the 18+- inches of snow. I did have to muscle it at times because of the crust, but it ground it up and threw it with ease. If I had chains for the tires It would have taken less effort on my part, for the only issue was traction. The shute controll worked effortlessly and used some wax on the paint before use and no clogging. (my brother said I should try silicone spray to prevent the snow from sticking) Cleared out a space big enough for two vehicles in no time. Very pleased with the performance and started in the cold without issue. I would recommend.

The machine cleans pretty well except it does not clean all the way to the surface. It leaves about 1/2 inch of snow on asphalt. I have had to shovel off that last bit to get a completely clean driveway. Otherwise it works quite well..
David –
Excellent machine. Very easy to push the machine around and get it places
Tony –
Works great! Just the right size for the snow amounts we get and driveway
Bill –
Excellent machine. It had all the features I needed. Assembly was straightforward and instructions very clear. Looking forward to years and years of use
Ryzer –
Blower works Awesome!!! Not needing shear pins was the best idea ever!! I have yet to get this blower clogged, works perfect every time! Great job TORO!!!!
Micheal –
The sidewalk in front of my home is just off the street so the city’s snowplow throws up heavy, wet snow on to the walk. The Power Max easily handled this mess, something my single-stage snow blower could never do.
Richard –
I liked the operation of the blower especially the ease of moving the handle to release the snow.
Marc –
Works great. Easy to start. Propels itself. Very easy to control chute.
Pindawg –
Perfect machine for our Property. Cleaned the neighbors driveway and sidewalks plus my own in less than 1/2 hour. The machine is a beast and is capable of handling most anything we get in Northwest Ohio.

bought one line, Was in stock and delivered in two days. Free shipping . My 40 year old daughter assembled it in less than an hour. Started on second pull. Cleared heavy wet snow with ease no clogging. low gear too slow and second too fast. Toro has a good product in this machine.
Gerard –
Does a good job of throwing the snow but does not clean down to the surface. Maybe the height can be better adjusted to clean better, but I haven’t tried to lower the machine yet.

Purchased this blower already assembled or so I thought. Before I left the store I noticed it was missing the operators manual. They had to print one off for me. Employee stated it must have be given to someone who purchased the same model which was probably missing the manual as well. Proceeded to drive home, 20 minute drive, unload the blower and checked the oil and added gas. Started it up no problem. Put traction lever in 1st position and engaged traction and it started going in reverse. After inspection discovered that the traction-control linkage bar was missing and also the snow clean out tool was missing. Immediately called the store to let them know. Since they didn’t have another one in stock and of course no parts to give me they contacted another store that had some in stock. Had to drive to another store which luckily happened to be only 30 minutes away to get the missing parts. Good thing because we had a winter storm coming in the next day! Not sure how the traction-linkage was not installed when it was assembled at the store. My guess they took it off this blower and put it on the same one that was missing the operators manual that i mentioned at the start of this review. The blower worked great when I used it for the first time after the storm. So far so good….
Buffalo –
After a very tough winter last year (2022-2023), I purchased this snow blower and couldn’t be happier. I’m not a real handy guy but assembly was very easy. With over 4 feet of snow over the last few days(Buffalo, NY) this unit handled it with no problem.
Bruno –
He likes it so far but just know the instructions that come are only pictures and not that great at explaining how to start it up
Dest –
Great power and easy to start this powerful unit will go thru any snow.
Bellie –
No difficulty with assembly so the blower was up and ready to go in a short time. I love the electric start so I don’t have to use the pull start and get worn out! The blower is awesome with the easy adjustable chute so you can go back and forth instead of trying to get the blower turned around and back to the start. So far it’s been great at snow and ice that was broken up. Caution with the ice as it will throw golf ball chunks of ice for a good distance!! The blower was picked up at HD and I haven’t used customer service.
Jude –
I bought this model. Why? Thinking was, when we now get snow, it can be dense, a smaller cut would be less wear & hould be easier to handle Has the same size motor as the 26/28 inch. Well, after 1 storm, that logic failed. What I did not anticipate is that in order to not leave snow behind from the chute, I could only cut 18-20 inches at a time. If the snow packs at all, the blower will ride up on the snow, leaving half of it. You have to go over it 2-3 times or pull up the handles to cut into the snow. Sadly, it is well built and I will now use it for 8-10 yrs. Bottom line, don’t buy the 24 in. Go to 26 or 28 w/a bigger motor.

Great machine ! Built tuff works awesome ! Solid …
Tom.K –
Only had this snowblower about 2 months and haven’t been able to actually use it because so far we’ve had no snow. But I have started it up for a dry run just to get familiar with it. This is a nice solid machine and seems to be well built. I still own a smaller 8 yr old Toro Power Clear that always served me well but I wanted something a little larger and more powerful to handle the bigger storms we sometimes get. So I bought the Power Max because I consider Toro to be a quality product.
Kai –
I bought this snowblower and it hasn’t left the shed. It’s keeping the snow away!
